Thomas William Schmidt

Thomas William Schmidt (74) of Conneaut died unexpectly on Oct. 29 2019 in Conneaut Brown Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 7, 1945 in Conneaut he was the son of Daniel and Margaret (Tanner) Schmidt.

Tom was a graduate of Conneaut High School Class of 1963 , Kent State University , and a veteran of the United States Navy. On Sept. 15, 1973 he married the former Merceda Michelini.

Mr. Schmidt was retired from the Teamsters Union , he enjoyed gardening , dancing , and baseball. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Tom was a member of the American Legion and Conneaut Moose Club.

Survivors include his daughter Victoria (JD) Thompson , son Vaughn Schmidt , sisters Lenora Toth , Danette (William) Ingersoll , Billie Mae Gee , many nieces and nephews and his companion Kathleen Vespe.

He was preceded in death by his parents , and his wife Merceda Schmidt.

Funeral service will be on Saturday Nov. 2 at 11:00 A.M. in Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19th St. in Ashtabula with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Conneaut. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences can be made at guerrierofuneralhome.com
