Teresa Licate, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on
December 29, 2025. She was born on December 16, 1943, in Ashtabula to Michael
and Minnie (Giannell) Lignetta and graduated from Ashtabula High School.
Teresa was employed as an office manager and retired as a paraprofessional from
Ashtabula Area City Schools.
Teresa treasured time spent with family and friends, which usually included cooking and
eating good food, lively conversation and much laughter. She was a generous and
selfless person who delighted in the happiness of her loved ones, often expressed
through her love of shopping for others. Teresa maintained a positive spirit and great
sense of humor, particularly when faced with adversity.
Tereasa was a devoted catholic who taught the Catechism of the Catholic Church to
children on Saturdays. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in
Ashtabula. Upon moving in her latter years, Teresa joined Holy Family Church in Stow.
Teresa is survived by her son David Licate and daughter-in-law Krista Licate,
grandchildren Jacob Licate and Alaina Licate, sister Lita Kovacs, brother Anthony
Lignetta, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph W. Licate, her parents, and her
sister Carol Carney.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday Jan. 7 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:30 to 7 at Guerriero Funeral Home. 1550 West 19th St. in Ashtabula.. Condolences can be made at guerrierofuneralhome.com
