Susan Isco Obituary

Susan K. Isco, 76, a longtime resident of Ashtabula passed away on the evening of September 16, 2021, at the Lantern of Saybrook surrounded by her loving family.

Susan was raised on Bridge Street in the harbor and attended Saint John’s High School.  She then went on to graduate from Kent State University where she also met Andrew, her husband of 53 years.

Following her passion for teaching and love for children, Susan spent 14-year teaching throughout the Ashtabula Area City School system: Thomas Jefferson Elementary, West Junior High, and Washington Elementary.

Susan was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, and friend.  She was a perfect coach’s wife. You could always find her cheering in the stands at her husband’s basketball games and for many years had the teams over to the house for a yearly pasta dinner. Watching her children’s many sporting events/games/meets/activities, dance recitals and plays brought her much pride and joy.  She treasured every moment spent with her children & grandchildren and loved supporting her family in all their endeavors.

Susan enjoyed reading, knitting, playing piano, watching movies, country line dancing, summer vacations with the family and was able to enjoy retirement by traveling the world with Andrew. Alaska was her favorite! She was often complimented on her beautiful singing voice. Her love for the arts kept her involved in Green Door Follies, Straw Hat Theatre, Ashtabula Arts Center, and The Good Life Singers.

Susan is survived by her husband, Andrew; children, Angela (Steve) Orr, Andrea (Edwin) Horneij, William (Pamela), Raymond, Suzanne; sister, Joan (David) Baker; grandchildren, Christine, Maggie, and Andrew Orr; Angelina and Isabelle Isco, Abby and Julia Pete. She is also survived by Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many other loving family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, William and Margaret (Paul) Giordan; Marguerite Giordan (step-mother); sister, Judith Giordan; and many other family members.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm, Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 W. 19th Street in Ashtabula.
