Robert Lee Gibson was born on August 10, 1947 in Dillion, South Carolina to the union of John C. and Louise Gibson. Lovingly called ‘Buddy’ by his family and friends.
He attended the local public schools of Dillion. After completing his education, Robert eventually moved to Cleveland where he worked as a welder for Meyers Products for over 40 years until his retirement.
Robert dedicated much of his time to his two loves, his family and gardening. A dedicated family man, Robert worked hard to ensure that his family was safe and comfortable.
Robert’s other passion was gardening. He truly had a green thumb. He would enjoy toiling in his garden for hours to ensure a bountiful crop. He was proud that neighbors admired his garden where he grew collard greens, herbs, and other vegetables that he happily shared with his friends and neighbors.
Robert demonstrated his love of family each year as he eagerly anticipated the 12 hour long drive from Cleveland to South Carolina to enjoy the annual family reunion.
He was baptized and a faithful member of Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church under the leadership of Pastor Eugene Anthony.
Robert departed this life peacefully on January 5, 2022 at Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Emma Ford, Lula Murphy, Judy Fore, Linda Gibson, James Willie Roberts and David Hamilton.
