Rita was a legend in herself. Early in life she was a beautician and worked at her sister Mararet”s beauty shop. Rita was one of the original members of Saint Joseph Mission and devoted her life to helping the church whether it would be working at dinners, singing in the choir, leading the procession at the Feast, and definitely playing bingo.
Rita loved her family and worked tirelessly canning, sewing, and seeing to their every need.
She loved to sing and was a member of the Sicilian Choir, the Mission choir, The Sweet Adelines, and Performed in the Sound of Music in Ashtabula. Later in life she worked in the Auditors office in Jefferson.
When Rita finally ran out of steam, she retired to North Carolina where she lived with her daughter Daria, and her daughter’s cat, Patches and chicken, March.
Rita will never be forgotten. So pour yourself a glass of wine, say a prayer, and toast Rita and wish her a happy journey home.
The family requests donations be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
