Richard Carlo Obituary

Richard Phillip Carlo (65) of Ashtabula passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends.

Rick was born September 15, 1956 in Ashtabula to Philip and Lois (Church) Carlo. He graduated from Ashtabula County Joint Vocational school in 1974, then went to work various jobs leading him getting 2 bachelor’s degrees. He worked as an engineer at HDT in Harpersfield. Prior to him owing his own motorcycle repair shop. Rick worked as a  mechanic at Tisdale Harley Davidson Shop and for Bartrum Honda Shop where he was mentored by Mr. Bartrum who was like another father to him.

In 1998 Rick was blessed to have had a liver transplant and had such great strength in battling that liver that had recently failed him. He held a deep appreciation for the gift of life that was given to him by the young girl who donated her organs.

On August 26, 2006 Rick married the love of his life Jean Brennan, they shared many adventures traveling by motorcycle and by motorhome.  The best adventures were the ones spent traveling to bluegrass festivals.  Rick enjoyed being outside and had a love for nature, one of his biggest loves was for his dog Hattie.  He had many dear friends that he shared lots of laughs and made great memories with.

Survivors include his wife Jean (Brennan) Carlo, daughter Eva (Mark) Showalter, mother in law June Brennan, step daughters Lisa Butts, Laura (Billy) Burke, and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Phil and Lois Carlo, father in law Chub Brennan and great granddaughter Sereniti Blankenship.

Funeral service will be on Friday February 4 at 7P.M. in Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19th St. with Rev. William Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 7.
