Nancy Jean DiSalvatore of Akron, Ohio, born in Akron to parents Edwin and Marie Wooddell on October 10, 1935, passed away the morning of April 16 from complications following a broken hip. Nancy is survived by her husband, Reuben DiSalvatore, her sisters Sara Ward and Becky Shepherd, her daughter Kim Stover (Rick), her sons Tim Assaf (Sudie) and Jamie Assaf (Nadine), stepchildren Reuben DiSalvatore Jr., Joe DiSalvatore and Mary Bernadette Ward and their respective families, nine grandchildren (Matthew, Kelley, Samuel, David, Emily, Rebecca, Maegan, Caitrin and Brendan), four great-grandchildren (Aidan, Judah, Nora and Reid), one niece (Susan Ward) and seven nephews. Nancy lived most of her life in the Akron area, graduating from Akron Central High School and attending Akron University. In 1955 Nancy wed Ronald Assaf; during the 24-year marriage, Nancy dedicated herself to raising their three children. In 1985 Nancy married Reuben DiSalvatore, with whom she has enjoyed more than 38 wonderful years. Nancy was a warm and loving wife, mother, neighbor and friend. A gifted painter, she was colorfully creative in all aspects of her life, from her stylish clothes and accessories to her always welcoming home, which she gleefully decorated for each holiday. She loved cooking for friends and family, hosting special gatherings and celebrations. She was playful and mischievous, fondly known as “Grandma Tease.” She was a giving and generous spirit and will be sorely missed. Visitation will be held Thursday April 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge, with a funeral mass on Friday April 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls.
