Michael Wayne Melaragno

Michael "Mickey" Melaragno, age 64, of ., Ashtabula, Ohio, died January 21st, 2022 peacefully with his family by his side.

He was born May 3rd, 1957, in Ashtabula, the son of Edward and Dolores (Warren) Melaragno and had been a lifetime area resident. He was a 1975 graduate of Harbor High School and enlisted into the United States Army quickly thereafter. There, he served the U.S. at the Korea Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). He was proud of his service, often telling stories of this time to friends and family.

 He was employed with INEOS Pigments for 30 years in various roles before retiring in 2020. He had also been an active member of the Sons of Italy Lodge #1169 in Ashtabula. He had many interests including hunting, fishing, firearms, gardening and yard work. He loved the spring & summer time where he enjoyed sitting on his backyard deck while enjoying the sunshine and watching his grandkids play sports. He was a big Cleveland sports fan and in particular, the Cleveland Indians. He rarely missed a game whether it was broadcast on television or radio.

Surviving him are his wife, Cheryl (Rebera) Melaragno whom he married in 1985; son, Michael Melaragno Jr. of Ashtabula; daughter, Wendy Melaragno of Ashtabula; a sister, Sandy (Gene) Carpenter of Ashtabula, two grandsons Dylan Carpenter & Carlitos Rivera both of Ashtabula, one granddaughter Gianna Melaragno of Ashtabula and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edward Paul Melaragno Jr. and one sister, Tina Melaragno. 

Funeral Service will be on Tuesday Jan. 25, at noon in Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19th St. with burial to follow in St. Joseph cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 10:30 till time of service. Guerrierofuneralhome.com for condolences
