Linda Jeanne (Lilley) Pohto, of Saybrook Township, 68, passed peacefully on April 10th, 2024.
She was surrounded by loved ones while listening to the birds singing and the waves of Lake
Erie at the David Simpson Hospice House after being in the ICU of Geauga hospital.
Linda was born in Ashtabula on August 12th 1955, to Phillip and Helena (Rawson) Lilley. She
was the only sister, which made her tough. Butch, Robert, and Bruce Lilley being her beloved
brothers. All of which proceed her in death. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws
Wilho and Diane (Lewis) Pohto. She has joined her son Robert (Bobby) Pohto who sadly
passed away in 2020.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 47 years, Robert (Bob) Pohto, as well as
her daughters Angie Walker (Matt Russell) and Tammy Ross (John Ross). Her grandchildren
Kaila Walker (Nelson Cales), Jerami Walker, Audrey Ross, Dylan Walker, and Lily Ross.
Great-grandchildren Marlie Cales, Layla Walker, and Tucker Cales. Including many extended
family and friends.
A wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Linda enjoyed taking in every moment
with the people she loved, including siblings, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as
friends.
Linda was a bus driver for Ashtabula Area City schools for 30 years. She looked forward to
seeing her bus kids and grew close with many of them throughout elementary to their
high-school years. Her love for children was big, friends of her children and grandchildren would
quickly become bonus family and even call her mom/gramma. She enjoyed her retirement and
soaking up family time.
Animals were a passion of Linda’s, from watching butterflies by her flowers to even spying on
the snakes. She especially loved horses and cats. She had several pets throughout her lifetime.
As a teenager, she rode her pony Cookie around the back roads of Plymouth with friends. Her
heart horse was Sparky and she loved Blue Sparkles, her Suburban Knight! Her cats Miss Kitty
Lilley, Littlefoot, Remington, and Twilight were very special to her. Shiloh, her son Bobby’s dog,
was spoiled with love. She of course passed on her love of animals to her family.
As a nature lover, she spent most of the warm seasons outside with her family cruising around
“Pohto Park” on her golf cart, giving her animals love, and enjoying feeding the fish in the creek
with her husband. It was a known fact to have her firewood ready for her fires! During winter
months she unwinded by painting and writing, caring for her houseplants, snuggling with her
cats, and occasionally playing the slot machines. She always looked forward to a “moon trip” to
somewhere scenic with family, and along the way the game “Zip” was definitely played.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Sympathy cards can be
sent to 8571 Munson Hill Rd. Ashtabula, OH 44004. The family will have a private ceremony to
honor and celebrate her life in the near future.
