Kathy Cross Obituary

Kathy Mae (Sims) Goff-Cross passed away unexpectedly at home on January 18, 2022. She was born June 28, 1962 in Columbus, Georgia to Everette Sims and Carolyn Sheets.

She obtained her G.E.D. and then went on to receive her L.P.N. in 1994 from the Knoedler School of Practical Nursing. She worked at the Sisters of Notre Dame for seventeen years and later at Austinburg Nursing Home.

Kathy enjoyed watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette and Teen Mom among many other shows. She enjoyed listening to country and R&B music. In her spare time she also liked to read books by various authors. What brought Kathy the most joy was spending time with her grandchildren, family, friends and pets (Pepper, Baby Girl & Angelina.)

She is survived by her fiancé John Cross, a daughter Tamara Meeks and son Todd Cross both of Ashtabula. Two brothers Ronald Caldwell (Margaret) and Jason Sims. Eight grandchildren Jacob Sanders, Nevaeh Goff, Nina Meeks, Nicholas Meeks, Savannah Mallory (Cross), Stella, Bridget and Rory. Uncle Thomas (Judy) Tyson, Aunt Glenna Thiel, nephews Ronald and Charles Caldwell and various cousins. Step-parents Ronald and Christine Caldwell, Judy Sims and a longtime friend Charles “Bo” Pritchard.

She was proceeded in death by her mother Carolyn Joyce Caldwell, father Everette Sims, grandparents Delores and Ralph Holsinger, Everette “Buster” Sims Sr and Grisley Sims, past husbands Leonard Goff Jr and Clyde Cross, and longtime friend Terry Grow.

Please join us for a celebration of life at Lighthouse Baptist Church on Carpenter Rd January 29that 2pm. The family is asking to please wear purple as its Kathy's favorite color.

Donations can be made in her honor to the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League, Lighthouse Baptist Church and St. Jude.
