Judith A. Black (81) peacefully passed on November 14, 2023, at her home with family by her side in St. Augustine Florida. She was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on September 9, 1942, to Lawrence and Josephine (Denik) Welker. She is survived by her son, James Black, sister Sue Lillvis, grandchildren Jessica, Mathew, David, and John. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Black, her son john Black, her parents and sister Janet Jones, aunt Sunda Denik, uncle Edward Denik.
A graduate of St. John High School in 1960, Judy married Bill Black in 1961. Judy worked as part-time bookkeeper in Ohio and Virginia Beach, Virginia before retiring and moving to Florida. At their home, Judy and Bill had an open door policy, and their many neighbors and friends knew they were always welcome to stop in for coffee or a glass of wine. In addition to neighborhood festivals, Judy and Bill enjoyed Traveling to Mexico and Europe as well as bus trips and cruises with friends.
After Bill’s passing in May 2013, Judy’s friends rallied around her and continued to keep her busy with book club and mahjong. She taught her friends how to play canasta and hosted the card game monthly. She continued to travel to Italy, Alaska, and the Panama Canal with her friends. She enjoyed life and also loved when her son, Jim, would come for a visit and cook for her and her friends.
She made many friends, over the years, from Ohio to Florida, and kept even long-distance relationships Strong. She always said what was on her mind and was the kind of person that would be there for everyone in good times and bad. . Judy will be sincerely missed.
Committal service will be on Monday 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Cemetery with Father Ernesto Rodriguez officiating. Obituary and condolences at guerrierofuneralhome.com
