Jean Marie Santillo-Salgado of Ashtabula, passed away on June 7, 2022 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. Born in Ashtabula on September 9, 1946 she was the daughter of Harold and Bernice (Tivas) Santillo.
Jeannie graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1964. She was an avid reader who loved to do crossword puzzles and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. One of her favorite pastimes was making trips to the casino with her family. As a young child, animals had a special place in Jeannie’s heart, and she was always taking in those who needed a home. Her home was a haven for children and animals, as she spent most of her adult years as a homemaker. Family was everything to Jeannie, and she loved the times she got to spend with family members. She was the one who everyone went to for help and advice. In addition to her selflessness and wisdom, her wonderful storytelling and amazing cooking will be forever remembered.
She is survived by her husband Ruben Salgado, sons Mark Vacca, Scott (Julie Thurston) Vacca, and Erik Salgado, daughter Julie (Joseph Sousa) Salgado, granddaughters Alyssa Catron, Isabella Sousa, Elizabeth Vacca and Sophia Salgado, grandsons Mark McCafferty ,Tre Grow, Lukas Vacca, and Joseph Sousa, brothers Ronald and David Santillo , niece Jennifer Santillo, and nephews Anthony Santillo, Ronnie Santillo, and Jason Hood.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Bernice (Tivas) Santillo.
