Janet Eskelin Obituary

The Lord received a Beautiful soul when Janet Laatu Eskelin passed away January 4, 2022 surrounded by her family. Janet was born January 11,1938 in Cleveland Ohio to Edward and Ailie Laatu. Janet was a proud graduate of Harbor High School from the class of 1955. She met the Love of her life and married Richard Eskelin in January 1956. She has been his passenger on their road to life together for 66 wonderful years. She retired from Reliance Electric as an inspector when the plant closed.Janet was a woman who had very strong Faith and Spirituality. She enjoyed leading her Bible Studies at Saybrook Park
Richard and Janet moved to Haywood Beach when Rich built their home in 1961 for their growing family. She was a proud member of the Finnish American Heritage Association in the Ashtabula Harbor. In 2007 she was a huge part in bringing FinnFest to her town. You could find her and Richard during the summer at Car Shows in their Black '52 Chevy. Janet loved music and attending outdoor concerts. Janet is survived by husband Richard Eskelin, daughter's Judy Carlson and Victoria Hale, son Michael (Laurie) Eskelin, Grandchildren Brandon (Felicia) Carlson, James (Thyessa) Hale, Eric (Jacqueline) Hale, Alanna Chrisman, Joelle(Russell) Smith, Michael Eskelin, Great grandchildren, Tyler, Addyson and Keygan Hale, Joshua and Emmaline Smith, sister Noreen Radwancky and brother David Laatu. Proceeding her in death are her parents, son Richard (Rick) and grandson Ryan Carlson. Janet had many loving friends cousins, nieces and family who will miss her greatly, especially her Growing up in Ashtabula friends.
