Obituary

Janet Marie DelPrince, born in Ashtabula, Ohio April 27th, 1938, passed away in Naples, Florida on July 11th, 2022.

Janet devoted her life to loving and supporting her family; especially her husband, Clarence DelPrince, and five sons, David, Billy, Randy, Joey, and Aaron.  Some of Janet’s most cherished activities included family events, holiday gatherings, camping trips, school functions, and community activities. Well known for the fresh Italian food she’d make from scratch, Janet was most joyous with family and friends surrounding her at the dinner table, in good company.

Janet grew up near Lake Shore Park, where she loved spending time in nature and at nearby beaches.  As a saxophone player at Ashtabula High School (class of 1957),  a long-time employee of the Ashtabula Area City Schools, and a secretary at the Thomas Jefferson Elementary school for 22 years, she enjoyed serving her community and aiding co-workers and students. Additionally, Janet spent many years volunteering at Cederquist Park Sports Complex where several of her son’s played baseball. She was loved by many for her community service, hard work, and dedication.

After retirement, Janet and her husband Clarence, moved to Fishers, Indiana where they spent 20 years with family and friends, participating in their favorite hobbies like cooking, festivals, and sports—all while spending sacred time with their sons, in-laws, and grandchildren.

Janet was selfless.  It was important for her to make others happy.  If you had the pleasure of knowing her, you’d often hear her say, “Whatever makes everyone happy.”  Her smile was infectious and go-with-the-flow attitude comforting.

Boy did she love the outdoors; particularly traveling with her 5 sons on trips to California, Colorado, Nevada, and Florida. It’s no secret that summer was her favorite season, and there’s no telling if the ocean or sunshine brought her more bliss. So much so, that in Janet’s final years, she and her husband Clarence relocated to Naples, Florida, soaking in the joy of immense sunshine, exquisite landscapes, and beautiful beaches.

As we gather to celebrate Janet’s beautiful life, and think of her as the hours, days, and years go by, we will be swiftly reminded of the importance of family, community, and devotion. In her memory, we’ll find comfort in knowing that no matter what, we have family and the tradition of love for generations to come.

Janet is survived by her five sons and daughter-in-laws; David & Linda of Columbus, OH, Bill & Angelica of Ashtabula, OH, Randy & Sherrie of Golden, CO, Joe & Nan of Naples, FL, and Aaron & Kim of Orlando, FL; Grandchildren Gio, Jenna, A.J., Koryn, and Anna; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Roland & Lucy.

She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence DelPrince, parents Jenny & William Sabatine, mother-in-law and father-in-law Barnaba & Pasqua DelPrincipe, granddaughter Mia DelPrince, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Guy DelPrince, Ben & Philda DelPrince, Tommy & Emma DelPrince and Ercole & Viola DelPrince.
