It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Guy L. Severino, age 71, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who left us on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Guy was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula, born on February 16, 1954, to Guy and Virginia (Goebel) Severino. He was a proud graduate of Saint John High School, Class of 1972. On April 27, 1974, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Notter, beginning a beautiful journey together that would span over five decades.
As a hardworking entrepreneur, Guy made a lasting mark on his community. He owned and operated J&H Jewelry, later co-owning Hotel Ashtabula and Guyreino’s Deli. His dedication to his businesses was only matched by his deep love for people. Guy had a gift for connecting with others—whether serving customers, sharing stories, or lending a helping hand, he always made those around him feel special.
Outside of work, Guy’s passions were wide-ranging. He was an avid Browns fan, often found tailgating and cheering them on with his signature enthusiasm. He cherished family vacations, where he made unforgettable memories with Kathy, their children, and grandchildren. Music was another great love of Guy’s life. His voice brought joy to everyone he encountered, and he had a natural ability to break into song at any moment, spreading laughter and happiness wherever he went.
Guy’s boisterous energy, infectious spirit, and unwavering generosity will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire Ashtabula community.
Guy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy, and his daughters Laura (Pat) Latkovich, Leslie (Mat Smith) Severino, Lisa (Jamie Katzmann) Severino Katzmann, and Lyndsay (Jack) Stills, as well as his beloved grandchildren Kylie, Megan, Emma (Nate), Ryan, Brandon, Jackson, Lucy, Lincoln, Sydney, and Lainey.
Visitation will be held at Guerriero’s Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church , Our Lady of Peace Parish at 11:00 a.m.
