It is with great sadness that the family of Fred Fish, born Nov 24, 1936 of Ashtabula Ohio, announces his passing after a 10 months battle with cancer on Oct,12,2020 at the age of 83. Fred is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Fish (Cigana) sister Delores Ray, children, Mark (Noreen)Fish, Debbie (Derek)Holbrook, Jeff (Lisa) Fish, Darla (Tom)Coloma, 3 grandchildren, Joshua Crane, Nicole (Mike)Bisbee, and Mark Fish Jr., and 5 great grandchildren Xander, Abrianna, Luke, Logan, and Landen.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Lucia Fish, daughter Lori Ann, sisters Viola Bayus, Nancy DiGiacomo, Ida StAngelo, Josephine Massi, and brothers Guy and Tony Fish.
Fred was a veteran of the United States Airforce where he served 4 years and was stationed in Germany. After leaving the armed services he worked as a butcher for many years and eventually worked at Reliance Electric where he retired after 30 years of employment.
Fred’s most favorite hobbies were golf and bowling. He was part of a bowling league for many years and was the first person in Ashtabula County to bowl a perfect 300 game. Several more perfect games were to follow. His favorite golf course in the area was Geneva-on-the-Lake golf course and after a round of 18 holes he loved to unwind at the 19th hole with his regular group of golf buddies. After a long day at work or a fun filled weekend of golf, his wife and children will forever remember him walking into the house whistling like an authentic blue jay or maybe a cardinal. His whistling was really that good. Our hope for our father’s remaining family and friends is that every time you hear a bird sing that you think of him and continue to fly.
Those who may desire can make memorial donations in Fred’s memory to Hospice of Western Reserve located at 1166 Lake Ave, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004
