Evelina Massucci, age 92, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Ashtabula Medical Center on November 7, 2020. She was born in Cerro al Volturno, Italy and emigrated to the United States to join her parents and siblings. She was married to her soulmate Domenic for 69 years and loved and cherished her family as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her happiest times were creating feasts for the entire family whenever they could be together during holidays and vacations. Cooking was her passion and trademark. She applied her cooking skills while working at a local restaurant for about a year. She was known for many Italian delicacies including a dish that grandkids and great-grandkids affectionately refer to as ‘Nonni’s Ball Soup’ which has never been successfully replicated. The hidden secret of many of her delicious recipes was fresh homegrown ingredients as gardening and canning were two of her other ardent hobbies. She devoted every spare moment outside of her career tending to a large garden of many varieties of vegetables which she subsequently preserved for future consumption. She worked for 17 years at a fiberglass components manufacturing plant (Rockwell International) where she excelled at her job through vigor and passion. She was recognized as the top press operator as evidenced by her selection as trainer/operator during the early implementation of robotics for advanced manufacturing. She was loved and will be thoroughly missed by her family and friends.
Besides her husband , Evelina is survived by her son Tony (Janice) Massucci; grandchildren Christy (Brian) Youngers and Sarah Massucci; great grandchildren Natalie, Brook and Will Youngers; sister Olivia Corlett.
She was preceded in death by her parents Adamo and Dina ‘Campagne’ DeCola; son Adam Massucci, who passed away at age 52; brother Luigi DeCola; sisters Antoinette Brabender, Orietta Marino and Rita Giancola.
