Ellis Klingensmith Obituary

Ellis Harry Klingensmith (95) of Ashtabula passed peacefully at home on Aug. 2, 2020. 

Born June 22, 1925 in Mercer County Pa. he was the son of Ernest and Grace (Schuler) Klingensmith. 

He married his wife Phyllis in 1948 and were together 70 happy and loving years until her passing in 2018.

Ellis was a WWII veteran of the United States Army Airforce honorably discharged in 1946, He graduated from Grove City College in 1954 and in 1963 he moved to Ashtabula to begin his 30 year career at Ashtabula High School. 

Mr. Klingensmith was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a great role model to all who knew him. Ellis was a teacher, guidance counselor and served as a long time Chairman on the Ashtabula City School Employee Credit Union Board. He was a private pilot, and a member of 1st Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed RC airplanes and walking at the mall. 

Survivors include his son David (Ellen) Klingensmith , daughter Karen Casbohm , grandchildren Austin Klingensmith , Taylor (Jonathan) Woodring , Destini Ginn , Jennifer Casbohm , Victor Casbohm , great grandchildren Brook Anne , Brayden Jon , and Asher , brother Donald Klingensmith. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis Klingensmith, and sister Bernice. 

Visitation will be on Wednesday Aug. 5 (today) from 5 to 7 P.M. in Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19th St. in Ashtabula.  Friends are asked to wear masks and social distance.  Funeral will be on Saturday at Cunningham Funeral Home in Grove City Pa. and burial will follow in North Liberty Cemetery.
