Dorothy (Marano) Gentene

Dorothy Gentene (97) of Ashtabula died peacefully at the County Club Retirement Center on Oct. 1, 2022

Born May 10. 1925 is Ashtabula she is the daughter of Addolorato and Antoinette (Monda) Marano.

Dorothy graduated from Ashtabula High School class of 1944 and on Aug. 30, 1947 she married Matthew Gentene in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Mrs. Gentene was retired from Carlisle’s Warehouse after 25 years of service in 1990. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy also enjoyed camping, and traveling and spending many Sundays with her sisters. She was an avid Cleveland sports fan.

She was a longtime member of Mother of Sorrows Parish.

Survivors include her daughter Patricia (Richard) McNeil of Ashtabula , son Michael (Danise) Gentene of Geneva , grandchildren Scott (Suezanne) Gentene of Wickliffe , Jamie (Marc) Thompson of Toledo ,great grandchildren Matthew and Scarlett Gentene,  Madison Thompson , sister Angela “Dolly” Kirk of Ashtabula ,brother Anthony “Tony” (Nancy) Marano and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Matthew on Oct. 22, 2010, sister AnnaMarie DeLemme on April 26, 202 and sister Carmella “Mela” Nappi on March 29, 2010

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday Oct. 5, 2022 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with Father Raymond Thomas officiating , Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church from 10 to 11 on Wednesday. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve , 116 Lake Ave. Ashtabula.
