Dennis M. Cox

Dennis M. Cox, 76, of Ashtabula, Ohio passed away on Thursday May 11, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 3, 1947 in Ashtabula, he was the son of Walter and Frances (Rockwell) Cox. 

He graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1965 and spent most of his life in Ashtabula and knew many people.  He also attended Ohio State University for one year.

He married his wife of 55 years Miquelina (Hoegler) Cox on July 8, 1967 at St. Mary’s Church in Painesville, OH.  He served in the United States Navy and did two tours in Vietnam.  He was an Engineer for Conrail Railroad for 20+ years, owner of DeGee’s Bar for 28 years and worked for himself as a cement contractor and roofer for many years.

He was a member of the American Legion, Army Navy Union, VFW and Sons of Italy before he fell ill. He enjoyed gambling, spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. 

Dennis is survived by his wife Miquelina, daughter Lisa (Fran) Colling, son Paul Cox, grandchildren Adam and Nya Colling, his best dog/friend Isabella and a sister Judy (Dale) Doyle. 

He was preceded in death by his father Walter Cox, mother Frances Cox, a brother Gerald Cox in infancy, father-in-law Frederick Hoegler and mother-in-law Silvana Hoegler.

Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 West 19th Street in Ashtabula, Ohio will have Friends and family may attend calling hours from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Funeral service at 11pm Wednesday, May 17 with Navy Honors and Burial to follow at Saybrook Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life at DeGee’s II Patio, Bar and Grill will start at 2pm Wednesday May 17.
