David Lee Close

David Lee Close (81) of Ashtabula passed on May 7, 2023 at
Metro Hospital in Cleveland.
Born April 13, 1942 in Geneva he was the son of Gordon and
Betty (Shore) Close.
Dave graduated from Austinburg High School in 1960.
Dave is a Veteran of the United States Navy. On Aug. 2, 1969
he married the former Simone Pirrello in Our Lady of Mount
Carmel Church. He is retired as an engineer Tec from the City of
Ashtabula. In addition, in the late 70’s and 80’s he worked for
Skidmore & Chah Construction and Frank Fortune Grocery. He
also worked with Ron Bienko and Jess Hart (Bienko and Hart
Surveying Company) private surveying work in the county.
Survivors include his wife Simone Close , sons Vincent Close ,
Andrew (Kelly) Close , grandchildren Tyler , Abigail , and Sarah
Close.
He is also survived by nephews Scott, Paul and Ronald Halleen,
and James C. Dudas. Nieces Lori Halleen and Devon Bordenave.
He was preceded in death by his parents , sister Roberta
Halleen and brother John Close.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday 10:00 A.M. in Mt.
Carmel Church with Navy Honors and burial at St. Joseph
Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 to 8 at
Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19 th  St. in Ashtabula
