Carolyn Mae (Sward) Vargo

Carolyn Mae Vargo (88) of Garrison road passed away, on April 8, 2024 at Country Club Rehabilitation Center following a five year battle of Congestive Heart Failure.

Born July 9, 1935 in Ashtabula she was the daughter of Fred and Ruth Sward.

Carolyn worked at Carlisle’s where she met her husband, James Vargo. She also worked for Carpet Mart, K-Mart, as well as with her husband who was self-employed at “Vargo Floors”. She also managed apartments.

She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, working on puzzles and gardening.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Vargo, sister Joyce (Sward) Carpenter and both her parents.

Survivors include daughters Cynthia (Larry) Vargo-Licata of Ashtabula , Patricia Vargo-Leonard of Reno , NV, grandchildren James , Julie , Timothy and Robert Licata , Matthew , Luke and Felicia Leonard , 9 great-grandchildren Dylan , Zachary , Lorelei, Estelle Licata and Damion , Ezra, Jaxon ,Nathaniel , Jaedyn Leonard.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday April 11 at 7:30 in Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19th St. in Ashtabula  , private entombment will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens , Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 at the funeral home.
