Carmel A. Ferraro Presciano, born August 2, 1921 in Ashtabula, Ohio daughter of Susie (Buccieri) Butch Ferraro and Giuseppe Ferraro passed away at Saybrook Landing on September 9, 2020 of natural causes.
Carmel graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1939, and was a lifelong resident, except for 4 years while she lived with her son and daughter in law in Florida.
Carmel married Peter C. Presciano on June 22, 1940 by Rev. John Davidson in Mount Carmel Church Ashtabula, Ohio. They celebrated 55 years of marriage in 1995. Peter passed away September 25, 1995. Carmel and Peter were active members of Mother of Sorrows Church for many years.
Carmel lived baking for holidays and being with her family. After Peter Retired, They visited family in Texas, New Mexico, California, Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio. She worked for several years for the Board of Elections at the voting polls.
Carmel is survived by her two children Barbara Swortwood of Ashtabula, and Anthony (Debra) Presciano of Boynton Beach Fl. Grandchildren Mark (Mary) Swortwood , Dwayne (Rachel) Presciano , Kelly (Daniel) Reinke and Anthony (Michele) Presciano , great grandchildren Madeleine (Ryan) Gates , Meredith Swortwood , Mary Paige Swortwood , Meagan (Chandler) Presciano Blake , Kailey (Dakota) Spangler , Brandon Reinke , Mia Presciano , and Luca Presciano , great great granddaughter Parker Spangler , sister in law Helen (Nicholas) Ferraro , Carmel has several nieces and nephews that she was very close with during her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Peter, brother Nicholas Ferraro and sister Antionette Ferraro.
Due to Covid -19 there will be no calling hours and a private mass will be held at Mother of Sorrows Church on September 19 , 2020 at 11:00 A.M. for the immediate family with burial to following St. Joseph Cemetery . In lieu of flowers Carmel’s wishes were for donations to be made to St. Jude’s or St. John School 7911 Depot Road, Ashtabula, Ohio
