Ann Bruckman, 78 of Ashtabula, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at ARMC, in Ashtabula, Ohio.
She was born March 1, 1946, in Ashtabula Ohio, the daughter of late Nicholas J. and Elda E (Santillo) Gowdy. A lifelong resident, Ann married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life John M. Bruckman on August 7, 1965.
She graduated from St. John High School in 1964, and from the Ashtabula Business College in 1965. Ann retired with 30 years’ experience selling insurance from State Farm. She was currently employed by ACCOA Center for Active Living as the Telephone Reassurance Coordinator where she made daily wellness calls to 40 seniors, who will miss her deeply.
In her leisure time she enjoyed listening to live music, crocheting, playing word search games, going out to dinner, and watching baseball and football with her husband.
But most of all Ann enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with her family. Ann was the proud matriarch of the family, committing herself to being fully present for every event and milestone in all their lives, no matter how big or small. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life treasures, her face lite up every time she saw them.
Ann always had her family and friends back through thick and thin. She always spoke the truth and was the first person to tell you if you were being a “dumb shit”. She never held anything back and she could always make you laugh with her unique sense of humor. Ann had all the answers and always knew what to say to make you feel better.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John (Jack) Bruckman; daughter Lisa Bruckman, son Timothy (Nicole) Bruckman, grandchildren Nicholas Bruckman (Isabel Heffern) and Adrianna Bruckman (Derrell McCalab), Sister Carol Billig and her sons Jeffrey (Angela) Gowdy and Jason (Samantha) Billig, great-grandchildren Nicholas Bruckman II and Alaina Bruckman, sister-in-law Shirley (Bruckman) Legg and her children Terri Moore, Bobbie and Brian Fortner, Corri and Scott Hopkins and Sean and Shelley Legg from Georgia, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws John F. and Florence (Massucci) Bruckman, brother-in-law's James E. Billig and Robert Legg from Georgia, and son-in-law Richard (Rick) Dearing.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday July 2, at 11 A.M. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with Father John Keehner presiding , burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.
