Virginia M. Hakundy passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017.  Her grandson and his family were with her during her last hours at Clark Memorial Hospital in Clarksville, Indiana.

Virginia was born on August 17, 1932 in Ashtabula OH.

She was a graduate of Edgewood High School in Ashtabula Ohio and received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Kent State University, Ashtabula Ohio.  She taught elementary school in the Ashtabula City School District, retiring from Plymouth Elementary School.

Virginia was a teacher in every sense, not only as a profession, she was always helping family, friends and acquaintances to learn about and understand the world around them.  She embraced her family's interests and activities from motocross racing, horseback riding, camping and skiing to hunting and boating.  She loved to travel, especially to historic sites across the U.S.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her daughter Rhonda Hakundy-Jones of Harrisburg, PA, grandsons Philip Hakundy of Charlestown, IN and Adam Jones of York Haven, PA.  She has one  great granddaughter, Kirra Hakundy, Charlestown, IN.  Her siblings are Anthony Arcaro of Scottsdale AR, Raymond Arcaro of Kingsville OH, and Dorothy (Arcaro) Laing of Painesville, OH.  Also, an important part of her life were her niece Sarah (Laing) Manning and grand nephews Owen and Maxwell Manning of Mentor, OH.

Virginia is preceded in death by her son Philip Gary Hakundy and husband Ronald Marvin Hakundy.  Her parents were Clara (Meola) Arcaro and William Arcaro.

In lieu of flowers, Virginia requested that donations be made to the Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department, 3636 Sheffield Monroe Road, Kingsville, Ohio.
