Obituary

Steven Robert Cevera, Sr. (70) of Ashtabula, loving husband, father, and Papa "Popsy",  passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday August 6, 2024, after facing a devastating battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's disease for the past seven years.

Steve was born on April 30, 1954 to Bernard and Angeline (Lagoni) Cevera. A 1972 graduate of St. John High School where he played football for the Heralds.

On June 23, 1973, he married his beloved wife Marilyn (Scott), this years they celebrated 51 years of marriage. Steve retired from Reliance Electric in 1997 and the City of Ashtabula in 2016. A Lifelong member of Our lady of Peace, EAC, and GOTL Golf Club, He was a devoted sports fan of Browns, Buckeyes, Cavs, and Guardians.

His Greatest love was watching his sons and grandchildren play sports for St. John and Chardon High School.  Steve was an excellent Golfer having several Hole-in-one at area courses.  He enjoyed boating, fishing, Bocce at Sons of Italy, gardening, remodeling, old cars (especially his 1974 Corvette). Steve loved working on cars and painting them in his younger years. He could fix anything and will be dearly missed. Steve had a passion for home wine making for years. His favorite was California Ruby Cab.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn, sons Steve Jr., Jason, grandchildren Emily, Alyssa and Jordan, siblings Bernard "Jocko", and Tina (Dave) DiCicco, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his by his father Bernard (1979) brother Mark (2003) his mother Angeline (2020) and his Fur Baby Lucy (2024)

The family thanks the staff of Saybrook Landing on Mariner View, for all their loving care and comfort and Bella Care Hospice for their comfort to Steve and His family. A huge appreciation to Nick , Abe , Jim , John , Fred , Larry , Gary , Mark , Pete , and Jerry who came to visit him. Words cannot express Our gratitude for your Comfort, God bless you all.

Funeral  will be celebrated on Friday Aug. 9 at Noon in Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19th St. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 Friday. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
