Robert Paul Kirk Sr. (85) of Ashtabula died on Dec. 24, 2016 at home surrounded by family.

Born Feb. 19, 1931 in Ashtabula he was the son of William P. and Lyda (Cartner) Kirk.

Mr. Kirk was a veteran of the United States Army serving at Fort Sill in Oklahoma.  On Sept. 26, 1950 he married the former Rose Marie Gallagher in St. Joseph Church in Ashtabula. He retired from Conrail Railroad with over 30 years' service as a conductor. Earlier in life his hobbies included coin collecting, fire arms, and Fenton Art Glass.

Survivors include his companion Barbara Hannam of Ashtabula, sons Richard Kirk of Tucson Az. , Mark Kirk of Ashtabula , Daniel (Donna) Kirk of Courtland Va. , daughters Susan Kirk- Martin (Jim Olson) of Clearwater Fla. , Sandra Fleming of Ashtabula , Sally Kirk of Ashtabula , Bonni (Tim) Archacki of Orwell , Barbara (Steve) Showalter of Kingsville, 16 grandchildren,15 great grandchildren , and a  sister Marcella Bittner of Conneaut.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rose Marie Kirk, 2nd wife Grace Headley-Kirk, son Robert Kirk Jr., infant daughter Linda Marie Kirk, sister Bernadette Kirk, and brothers John Kelleher, William Kirk, and James "Bud" Kirk.

Memorial service will be on Wednesday Dec. 28 at 5 P.M. in Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19th St. in Ashtabula. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 to 5 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences and guest book at guerrierofuneralhome.com
