Michael W. Rose Jr., 93, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away on February 9, 2024. He was born on May 20, 1930, in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Mike and Mary Rose. Michael was a great husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was hard working and always had a smile. Michael is survived by his son, Michael (III) and Cailin Rose; his daughter, Heidi Rose (Sean Ford); his son, Dave and Pam Rose; his daughter, Lori and Marvin Benjamin; his grandchildren, Amber Rose, Amanda Rose, Leanne and Brandyn Frampton, Micala Rose and Michael Socko, Michael Rose IV, Ryann Rose, Brandon and Abby Benjamin; his great grandchildren, Brody Lower, Porter Frampton, and Jameson Benjamin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Leota (Lee) Rose; his granddaughter, Morgan Rose Benjamin; his parents Mike and Mary Rose; his three brothers, Ralph, Edward and Joseph; and his five sisters, Dorothy, Jenny, Margaret, Theresa and Eleanor, as well as numerous brother and sister in laws. Michael attended Ashtabula High School, graduating in 1948. He proudly served in the US Army. After his military service, Michael worked at Rockwell Brake in Saybrook, Ohio and then in Rock Hill, South Carolina, until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and wine making, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he and Lee worked the weekly bingo for many years. They also wintered in Spring Lake, Florida. Michael was a member of the East Ashtabula Club, VFW and Elks.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday Feb. 15 in Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church with Father Raymond Thomas officiating , Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery were military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard Team from post 103. Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 10 till 11:30 at Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19th St. in Ashtabula.
