Louis Virgil Snyder, born December 1, 1937, passed peacefully on May 11, 2024. He will now reunite with the love of his life, his late wife, Caroline. He is survived by their seven beautiful children; Rose Ann Ciaravino (Joe), William Snyder (Sharon), Mary Snyder-Fox, Louis G. Snyder, Josephine Notter, Carolyn Halloran (Terry), and Nancy McGhin (Jim), his nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brother, Dennis Kallio (Leslie). Louis is preceded in death by his parents Garland and Ann (Mecci) Snyder, sister Aileen Armstrong, and son-in-law Richard Fox. He was born and raised in Conneaut, Ohio. He graduated from Conneaut High School where he was revered as an outstanding athlete, excelling in basketball and track. Louis went on to serve his country in the US Marine Corps, 1956 to 1959. His specialty (MOS) was 0300 Rifleman where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and was selected to be the Guidon Carrier for his platoon. He lived his life with great respect for those who have served. He, himself, descends from a long lineage of veterans. Louis is a seventh-generation son of the Revolutionary War, an honor that will pass on to his children with a legacy that lives forever. We thank him for his service. Louie, as many called him, transitioned from serving his country to serving his family and community. As a devoted father, he instilled valuable lessons of respect, responsibility, and loyalty, while fostering

the deepest sense of family. He encouraged his children to embrace self- sufficiency while nourishing a sense of pride in their lives. When it came

to the community, he was a respected Deputy Sheriff and an accomplished police officer throughout Ashtabula County, exemplifying his commitment to serve. Renowned for his quick wit and infectious humor, he embraced life's simple pleasures, from indulging in his beloved "lick-licks" (sweets) like spumoni ice cream or strawberry shortcake, savoring Saturday steak dinners, and keeping up with current events through the news. A true connoisseur of classic Western films, he too, found comfort and joy in the great outdoors for water activities like canoeing or affinity for

animals and meticulously tending to his lawn while zipping around on his tractor. Louie was a storyteller, sharing what life was like both before and after marriage, captivating friends and family with his experiences. Yet, amidst all of his interests and passions, his love for friends and family shined brightest, but it is by far the latter that is his proudest accomplishment. Although this man with a quiet walk and a sentimental grin is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be Thursday May 16 at Noon in Guerriero Funeral Home with Father John Keehner from Our Lady of Peace officiating , Visitation be from 10 till noon on Thursday.
