Obituary

Josie Penna DiMare 101 passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026 with her family by her

side. Born in Ashtabula, Ohio on June 16, 1924 to Louis and Mary (Severa) Penna. A graduate of

Ashtabula High class of 1942. Josie started her career as a bank teller at the Marine National

Bank in the Harbor. In 1946, Josie left the bank and married Anthony (Farina) DiMare and

started her family with her two sons, Alan and Joel. After 15 years she returned to the Key

Bank and retired in 1985. Josie belonged to the Alter and Rosary Society at Mt.Carmel Church

(Our Lady of Peace Parish). For many years she would take care of counting the money for the

Bazaar that the Church would have every summer in July. Josie was a woman of great faith and

love for her family.

Family was everything to Josie. No matter who it was or what they needed, she was always

willing to help them. Everyone was welcome at Josie's house. The holidays were always a big

deal at her house. Especially Christmas Eve when her brothers and their family's would come

over to prepare the traditional fish dinner.

Josie is survived by her sons, Alan and Joyce DiMare, Joel and Jeanine DiMare both of

Ashtabula, her grandchildren Justin and Kathrine DiMare of Cuyahoga Falls, Jorena DiMare of

Cuyahoga Falls, Joel and Katherine DiMare of Cleveland. Great grandchildren, Megan,

Matthew, Molly and Max DiMare of Cuyahoga Falls. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and

nephews, and godchildren who she cherished over the years.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Farina of 67 years in 2014. Her Parents Louis and

Mary Penna, In laws John and Eda DiMare, Brothers Louis (Fagan) and Lucille Penna, Carmen

and Marie Penna and Joseph (Bud) and Evelyn Penna.

The family would like to thank all the people that helped Josie stay in her home which she loved

dearly and Saybrook Landing for the exceptional care that she received while residing there.

In lieu of flowers, you can donate in Josie's name to St. John school or a charity of your choice.

Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady Of Pease Parish, Ashtabula, Ohio on February 24, 2026 at

10:00 am. No calling hours will be observed.
