Joann Celia Pedro (78) of Largo Fla. and formerly of Ashtabula died on March 21, 2017 at the Largo Medical Center with her loving granddaughter Sydney by her side.
Born Sept. 14, 1938 in Ashtabula, Joann was raised from the age of two by her beloved grandparents Cosmo and Giaconda (Pallutch) Izzi. She married Joseph P. Pedro on June 14, 1958 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and they were married for 59 years. Joann was 15 years old when she first met Joe. Through Joe's work they were away for thirty four years and returned to their hometown in the fall of 1995.
They lived in North Ridgeville for twenty years and belonged to St. Peter's Parish where their three children attended St. Peter's School. Joann was a Eucharistic minister there, sang in the church choir and was a reading aide for children at the school.
She volunteered her time all the years her children attended school. She was one of the founding members of the North Ridgeville Garden Club. Together with her husband they gave much of their time to the church.
They moved to Wooster, Ohio through Joe's job and there they were members of St. Mary's church where their youngest daughter Juile was married. Joann volunteered at the Wooster Community Hospital, and was a member of the Auxiliary Board. She also volunteered every week at the Soup Kitchen. She loved working outside with all of her flowers, cooking and people. Joann was the happiest when she was with her family, and especially adored all of her grandchildren.
In Ashtabula she was a member of Our Lady of Peace (Mt Carmel) and the Altar and Rosary Society, Joann and Joe were at the Adoration Chapel every Tuesday from 1-2pm for many years volunteering their time. She always loved being there and she always said she felt at peace there.
She was truly blessed by God with a wonderful husband and her three beautiful children and grandchildren.
Joann is survived by her husband of 59 years Joseph Pedro, her 3 children Jenny Ball , Joe Pedro (Jeff Ritter) and Julie (Dave) Chapdelaine. Her 5 grandchildren Daniel, Connor, Sydney, Sophia, and Nolan.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Cosmo and Gianconda Izzi and a sister Jane C. Vaughan.
