Dean Thomas
Rich
d. Oct 23, 2026
Ashtabula
Dean Thomas Rich, born in Ashtabula on July 20, 1951 to James and Marie (DiAngelo) Rich, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 23, 2026. He was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula and worked for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant for 31 years before retiring in 2011. Prior to that, he worked for Detrix and TruTemper.
Dean graduated from Harbor High School in 1969 and married his high school sweeheart, Jane Olkowski, on May 15, 1971. They enjoyed 55 years together raising their twin daughters. Later on, together, they both treasured attending their grandchildren's many school and extracurricular activities.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing; having a special commaradarie with the guys in his golf league. For a few years, bowling was a favorite, as well. He often enjoyed spending time with good buddies at the Elk's Club and the EAC and watching his daughter's bocce team play each summer at the Sons of Italy.
A quiet and tenderhearted man, he always looked forward to spending time with family at holidays, birthdays, family reunions, and, especially, Sunday family dinner.
Most meaningful to him were watching his grandchildren at dance competitions, travel baseball games, football games, and watching them succeed at all of their milestone achievements. He never missed an opportunity to be present.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, father-in- law Walter Olkowski, brother-in-law David Butler, and sister-in-law Catherine Rich.
He is survived by his wife, Jane, twin daughters Stephanie (Keith) Corlew and Tricia Williams, grandchildren Ray and Ryan Williams, his twin brother David (Sharon), brother Jimmy (Barbara), sister Gail (Ron) Deemer, sisters-in-law Nancy Butler and Marcia (Bob) Flaugher, many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and a close circle of friends from childhood, all of whom he loved dearly.
He will be remembered and celebrated at Mass on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace in Ashtabula with Father Connor Hetzel presiding. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. condolences can be made at guerrierofuneralhome.com
