Joseph St. Angelo Obituary

Joseph Anthony St. Angelo (74), son of Anthony and Florence (Vetrano) St. Angelo, passed away on Friday June 28, 2019.

Joe was born on March 19, 1945 was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula.  He graduated from Ashtabula High School and Bowling Green State University. Joe loved playing baseball and was a member of the Ashtabula Rubber Company 1963 Team that won the Ohio State American Legion Championship. Joe was also a legend in the slow pitch softball circle though out the state of Ohio.

While serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Joe was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.  Joe was retired from Nationwide Insurance and his St. Angelo Insurance Agency after many years of service. He was a member of the East Ashtabula Club, Elks and the Sons of Italy.

His varied interests included reading, sports, music, and traveling. The love of animals in general and his dogs in particular provided Joe with joy and happiness. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers.

Survivors include his brother Sam (Cindy) St. Angelo, sister Marygrace St. Angelo-Cleveland, nephews Anthony St. Angelo, Travis and Ryan Cleveland niece Christina Kiem and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service will be on Wednesday July 3, 2019 at 12: 30 in Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19th St. with Military Honors being provided by the American Legion Honor Guard Team from post 103, Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3 to 6 P.M. condolences can be made at guerrierofuneralhome.com, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family.
