Evelyn J. (Reed) Forinash

Evelyn Jo-an Forinash (91) of Saybrook Twp. passed on April 13,
2024 at the Lantern of Saybrook Assisted Living where she had
been a resident since March 2, 2024.
Born September 30, 1932 in Saybrook, Ohio at the home of her
grandparents Aleck and Susie Reed. She was the daughter of
Lindsey “Ginger” Reed and Ellen (Johnson) Reed. She married Al
Forinash of Saybrook on September 30, 1950.
Jo-an was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother
and great great grandmother, who was beloved by all of her family.
She was known as Grandma Jo to family and family friends as well.
Jo-an was well known on the local craft scene having organized the
Saybrook Christmas Shoppe craft show for over 45 years and
participated in many other local craft shows. Jo-an loved all
animals and was instantly adopted and loved by all cats and dogs
that crossed her path. On the last day of her life she was asking
about long gone kitties and the doggies as she drifted in and out of
sleep. Grandma Jo will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughter Linda Champlin, sons Len (Char)
Forinash, and Jeff (Roberta) Forinash, 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Mike)
Simmons, Julie (George) Collins, Robin (Sanj) Moghe, Mark
(Heather) Champlin, Melanie (DJ Snyder) Melissa (Jamie) Ingram,
Jennifer (Joshua) Stephens, Alan (Gwen) Forinash, Maureen
(Joesph) Massucci, Peter (Huanyuan) Forinash, 23 great
grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Al Forinash,
grandson Joshua Forinash, great granddaughter Gabrielle Collins,
and son in law Ron Champlin.
A private, grave-side funeral service will be held at noon, Tuesday
April 16, at the Saybrook Cemetery.
