Walter Gerren

Walter E. Gerren (79) of Ashtabula died at the Ashtabula County Medical Center on September 23, 2017.

Born July 11, 1938 in Ashtabula he was the son of Walter and Mary (Gioiello) Gerren.

Walter attended Ashtabula High School, was a veteran of the United States Army, in 1960 he married the former Jean Montgomery in St. Peters Church. Walter worked at the RMI Sodium Plant for 27 years, Elkem Metals, and retired from the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s department. He was a former softball umpire and he enjoyed watching sports on television especially the New York Yankees and going to casinos.

Survivors include his wife Jean Gerren , sons Chris (Cari) Gerren , Jeff Gerren , 5 grandchildren , 2 great grandchildren , sister Bertha Bartone , brothers Richard Carlo , Pete Raffenaud , Jerry Raffenaud , and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be on Saturday September 30 at 11:00 A.M. in Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19Th St.  with Deacon Richard Johnson officiating . Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army, burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
