Ronald D. Luoma

Ronald D. Luoma, 85, passed away September 13th, at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family.Born January 8, 1932 in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was the son of William and Arlene (Dunsworth) Luoma.  He was a lifelong resident and a graduate of Ashtabula High School.  A Veteran, he enlisted in the Airforce in 1951 and was an airman First Class stationed in Korea upon his honorable discharge in 1955. 

He retired as an automotive teaching instructor from the Ashtabula County Joint Vocation School.  He was a member of the East Ashtabula Club, the VFW, Post 943 and the American Legion.Ron was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where he married the love of his life, Dolores (Paulchel) in 1957.

An avid “Do it Yourself”, Ron did everything from automotive repairs to home remodeling.  He loved to create his own “inventions”.  Whatever he set his mind to, he accomplished it.  Ron was also an avid fisherman and loved being out on the open water.Survivors include his beloved wife, Dolores (Paulchel), his children, Mark (Janice) Luoma of Ashtabula, Stephen (Colleen) Luoma of Montville, Ohio, Karen (Brian) Ritter of Ashtabula, Ronald (Erin) Luoma of Ashtabula, Mary Beth (James) Lacy, of Ashtabula and Christopher Luoma of Ashtabula.  Eight Grandchildren, Daniel Luoma, Sarah Luoma, Evadne Good, Rolland Good, Ben Luoma, Loder Luoma, James Lacy and Justin Lacy.  One brother, William (Doris) Luoma and sister Cora Sue Wilfong both of Ashtabula and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Luoma.  At the request of the deceased, there will be no services.
